Why is it important?
It is not an exaggeration to say that the future of the world may depend upon our ability to save the Amazon Rainforest (and other rainforests) from destruction.
Although less than 1% of the earth's surface area, the Amazon Rainforest produces 20% of the Earth's oxygen by converting Carbon Dioxide into clean breathable air and therefore preventing these polluting gases from adding to the Greenhouse Effect.
The Rainforest makes an enormous contribution to the human race. Rainforests are home to more species of plants and animals than the rest of the world put together. They contribute over 25% of Western medicine! Over 2000 tropical forest plants have been identified as having anti-cancer properties.
Resins, gum and oils from the Amazon are found in insecticides, rubber products, fuel, paint, varnish, wood finishing products, cosmetics, soaps, shampoos, perfumes, disinfectants, and detergents.
Over 50% of the Earth's species live in tropical forests.
The outflow from the Amazon River accounts for one-fifth of all the fresh water that drains into the world's oceans. Despite all of these benefits, the Rainforest is being destroyed at an alarming rate.
Unless we unite to stop the destruction of the Rainforest, there is a very real prospect of catastrophic climate change- even with the efforts ethically responsible firms are making to lower carbon dioxide emissions.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
HELP TO SAVE A MINIMUM OF 1,000,000 TREES IN THE AMAZON RAINFOREST THIS YEAR.
Your company can buy as many trees as you wish.
Your company will own the trees forever. We have official land registry certification. You will shortly be able to view your purchase by satellite, and your contribution not only saves the trees from destruction, but also pays for research, local employment and supports indigenous industries such as bee keeping and brazil nut harvesting.
Each year the forest you have paid for is audited by a reputable firm of auditors.
You receive an electronic certificate telling you how many trees have been bought and saved on your behalf.
You also receive a place on our forest page of your choice and your logo will be placed over the space, with a link to your website. The size of your logo depends upon how many trees you buy. If your company buys 10,000 trees your logo size will equate to 100 squares of the forest grid. The space will be allocated on a first come basis so hurry to reserve your company's trees now-and show your company cares about making a real difference to our environment.
